The CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) course is designed for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce. The training helps individuals understand the potential hazards that they could come up against whilst being at work on-site. The course aims to provide an adequate summary of health and safety, welfare, and environmental health and safety issues faced by those within industry.

Course Objectives

  • Ensure your individual responsibilities on-site are understood to include: a) why you are carrying out an identified role, b) what is expected of you and c) how you contribute to the safety of the workforce
  • Recognise the need to prevent accidents on-site
  • Grasp the fundamental and important health and safety legislation for everyone on-site
  • Understand the need to carry out and/or interpret risk assessments and method statements 
  • Be able to understand how your role on-site fits into the control measures utilised and management of the overall work site.  
  • Gain an appreciation for working safely on-site and the necessity for stopping work and asking for help if unsure if a task can be safely conducted
  • Report unsafe acts in order to help prevent workplace accidents

Certification

  • CITB Site Safety Plus Certificate with specific course achieved clearly displayed
  • Certification for this course is valid for 5 years

Entry Requirements

Photographic ID will be requested by the tutor at the start of the course i.e. Driving Licence/Passport.

Please be aware that it is a requirement of the Awarding Body - Site Safety Plus (CITB) that ALL delegates attending this course must read and understand English. Delegates must be competent in English at operative level. If you do not think you will have the sufficient English skills in order to the pass the examination please contact us for advice on reasonable adjustments allowed by the Awarding Body.

Please Note: Delegates under the age of 18 must provide written consent from a parent or guardian to successfully attend

CSCS Labourer's Card

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) course is also a perfect foundational course for anyone wishing to obtain the green CSCS Labourers Card.

The HSA course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.
