Groundforce has achieved industry recognition for their innovative design and technical expertise in excavation support, having been shortlisted in the 2015 Ground Engineering Awards, category for Technical Excellence.
This is the 3rd construction industry award the company has been nominated for this year and the second time they have been nominated in this particular category of the GE awards.
The entry was a joint submission between Groundforce and Costain Skanska (CSJV) who worked together to design a completely bespoke, excavation support solution for Crossrail’s Paddington box station. This was a particularly challenging project involving the design and installing a shoring system for a unique construction excavation of a 263m long, 22m wide and 20m deep, reinforced concrete box structure, which was within 100mm of a live tunnel and adjacent to a number of historic buildings.
Tony Gould, Technical Director for Groundforce said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be nominated in this category alongside some of the best ground engineering companies in the industry, who have some very impressive submissions. We consider this to be real achievement for our Major Projects team, it a great testament to whole team who worked incredibly hard on developing such a unique solution, and we now look forward to attending the event, and hopefully coming home as winners”.
