Fellowship is the highest and most senior grade of ICE membership and is “reserved for senior civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to the civil engineering profession or have advanced the practice of engineering”.
Tony is the brains behind many of Groundforce’s market-leading products and is regarded by many in the industry as the pre-eminent innovator in proprietary ground support technology.
After graduating from Loughborough University of Technology in 1981 with a BSc honours degree in civil engineering, Tony embarked initially upon an engineering career with British Rail, having been sponsored by them through university.
After nine formative years with BR Tony, left to join Mechplant, a former subsidiary of the York based Shepherd Group, which is where his career in designing and developing proprietary, predominantly hydraulically, based ground support systems started.
He joined Groundforce in 2001 as part of the Vp Group’s acquisition of Mechplant and is now based in Morley, Leeds where he is technical director of the 25 strong Groundforce Shorco’s technical team.
A passionate advocate of innovation in engineering design, Tony, also a chartered engineer, shares his knowledge and expertise on all things shoring through his popular Technical Blogon the Groundforce website.
Tony lives just north of York and is married with two daughters. His main interests outside of work are restoring and driving classic cars and walking along the coast. His pride of joy is a 1966 Triumph TR4A.
